SHARE

STOUFFVILLE: The first thing a first time visitor to Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park notices is its vastness.

As you slowly snake along the winding road of this 108 hectare (267 acres) park, you pass groomed playing field after groomed playing field; interesting architectural remnants; a group of children playing ‘slip-and-slide’ on a hillside, a BMX track, and, if you can believe it, a driving range.

You park the car in one of the many parking lots and get out to explore – what will it be?

There’s enough variety here to keep the most active families busy for the day – and beyond.

For the adventurer and the thrill seeker, there’s Treetop Trekking and BMX.

For folks nine years of age and older, Treetop Trekking features five tree top aerial courses – up to 40 feet in the air – made up of Zip Lines, wooden bridges, swings and more.

For the younger folks, age two and above, there’s Treewalk Village – a great place for youngsters to explore – it’s a place that is totally enclosed by eight-foot tall nets.

BMX is reaching new heights and enthusiasts are raving about the track at Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park. Featuring nie obstacles and a rhythm section, the track meets international standards and is perfect for those seeking action, speed and fun. NOTE: All riders must wear a helmet.

If thrills and adventure aren’t your cup of tea, there are other, more pedestrian activities to enjoy. There are three walking/hiking trails that range in length from 1.2 to 3.2 kilometres. Go ahead, take your dog for a walk – he’s allowed to be there. Just remember that the hiking trails feature irregular terrain, there can be changes in weather and you may have encounters with wildlife, bugs and poisonous plants. Stay on the marked trails or permitted areas at all times and keep in mind that some areas may have limited or no cell reception.

For those who need a quiet space and a field of green to work on their golf game, there’s a driving range where you can hit bucket after bucket, if that’s what you want to do. If you think a little extra help is needed, you could even get a lesson or attend a day camp.

After a hectic, fun-filled morning, take the time to enjoy lunch alfresco at one of the many picnic sites before embarking on your afternoon fun.

Perfect for individuals, couples, families and groups of all sizes, Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park is located at 3291 Stouffville Road, Stouffville,ON.

When your day at Bruce’s Mill is done, take a short drive into Stouffville and experience the charm and intimacy of this almost two-century old community. Enjoy pub grub at the Earl of Whitchurch Pub or go for a more familial vibe at the Fickle Pickle. If you’ve been there and done that, consider a snack and a bevie at Main Street Bakehouse & Eatery or Tulsi down the street. With patios and friendly service, it’s a great place to wrap up your day.
