Over the last month, the team at experienceyorkregion.com has been working feverishly to bring The Experience Trail to life.
The Experience Trail will re-connect York Region residents – and visitors – to the unique and interesting places that dot the region and bring our local culture to life.
With a camera crew in tow, we’ve criss-crossed York Region, capturing the places, events and people who make York Region such an amazing place to live and visit. We wanted to give you a quick look at what we’ve got coming – introduce our host and our special guest artist.Our host is Instagram influencer and Richmond Hill native Jessica Lam. Jessica will introduce you to the folks behind the events and attractions across York Region – from music and craft beer festivals to fall fairs and corn mazes. You can meet Jessica in the video below.
We’ve also enlisted the talents of rising TikTok star Mathew Morales who will create unique videos inspired by the places on the Trail. (@mattwaterr)
We’ve met with the folks at the Georgina Arts and Cultural Centre to find out about their new direction and the events they have planned for the next few months. We chatted with the team from the Varley Art Gallery in Markham and discovered the works of Karen Tam and viewed works from the permanent collection that are on view now. We also chatted with the folks behind the Lunar Lanterns of Indigenous Light which wraps up at the Varley Art Gallery courtyard this weekend. Watch the video below.We visited the Richmond Green Skate Park where we discovered ice skating is still one of the favourite pastimes for many Canadians. We had the chance to talk with Brandon Baghaee who showcased his work at Richmond Green as part of Black History Month. We featured his story a couple of weeks ago and we wanted you to hear Brandon explain his work in the video below.
And then we headed over to the Kortright Centre for Conservation to learn all about maple syrup and why the Kortright has been a must-visit attraction in York Region for almost 50 years.
But showcasing the region is only half the fun.We’re launching a new series of contests to get you out and about across York Region.
In fact, we launched our first contest of the year a couple of days ago when we offered up two tickets to see renowned Scottish tenor John McDermott at the Flato Theatre in Markham on March 16.
