It’s time to trade in the winter sticks for summer sticks – golf courses across York Region are either open now or are opening this weekend.
Blessed with numerous, top-notch public courses, York Region has tracks for all skill levels and ages.
Looking for just a quick nine-hole round?
There’s plenty of options across the region.
Bushwood Golf Club or Markham Green Golf Club in Markham. Royal Stouffville in Stouffville. Black Water Golf Course in Mount Albert. Westview Golf Club in Aurora. Bloomington Downs in Richmond Hill and Mill Run Golf Club in Uxbridge.
All of them offer nine-hole rates – a great option when you don’t have four or five hours to spare.
If you’ve got the game and want the thrill of playing a course that hosted professional golf’s Canadian Open, book a round at Angus Glen. With two courses, Angus Glen is an absolute pleasure to play. Impeccable grounds, challenging layout and first-class service all around.
And while they haven’t hosted one of golf’s major championships, there are quite a few other top-ranked courses in the area.
Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple, Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg and Wooden Sticks in Uxbridge check off virtually every requirement needed for a memorable round. Each of these courses earn rave reviews from players for course layout, course maintenance, course challenge and service excellence.
And while the majority of the experience is on the course, these clubs have earned top marks for their food and beverage operations, affording players one more reason to book a round.
In the Georgina area, there’s Lakeview House Golf Course in Jackson’s Point and Lyndhurst Golf Course in Georgina. In Sharon, Shawneeki Golf Club and Pheasant Run Golf Club are both fan favourites.
In the Newmarket, Aurora and Richmond Hill area, these courses are always in demand – Cardinal Golf Club, with 27 holes, St. Andrew’s Valley Golf Club, Westview Golf Club, Royal Stouffville, Bloomington Downs Golf Club and the Richmond Hill Golf Club.
