Schomberg Village Street Gallery The Studio Tour is a wonderful opportunity to visit the studios of King’s acclaimed artists. Meet them, see their work and perhaps pick up that special something. The annual Schomberg Village Gallery is an outdoor juried Fine Art Show & Sale held along historic Main Street. The show features stained glass, paintings, pottery, sculpture and more by over 20 artists.
3. Get outdoors – hike, golf, ride, horses or birdwatch
Hike the trails or go golfing. Just one of many options for hiking in King, the Happy Valley Forest is one of the largest remaining intact hardwood forests on the Oak Ridges Moraine. It is protected and classified as a provincially significant area encompassing 2850 acres of upland forest. Also, King is admired for some of the most challenging courses in Ontario and amongst them is Cardinal Golf Club, now recognized as Canada’s largest golf facility with 72 holes.
4. Explore the King’s heritage
King Township Museum and other Heritage sites. King is home to what remains of many historically significant villages from the early days of settlement. The King Township Museum is a place to preserve, interpret and celebrate their history. The Museum is housed in the Old Kinghorn School SS #23 built in 1861. With thanks to the Historical Society who collected and catalogued local artifacts, the museum opened in 1982.
5. Explore the local markets and wineries
Tour the Holland Marsh and purchase local produce at the farmers’ markets. The Holland Marsh is a wetland and agricultural area that lies entirely within the Holland River valley. In the early 1900s this swampy area was drained exposing the fertile Marsh grounds that farmers have been using ever since. The Holland Marsh is commonly referred to as Ontario’s ‘vegetable patch’ because of its incredible variety and copious amounts of fresh produce.
6. Annual fairs and events
Attend our Fairs – Nobleton Victoria Day Fair, Schomberg Agricultural Spring Fair, and Carrot Fest. The Nobleton Victoria Day Fair and Fireworks has the distinct privilege of starting off the summer season in King. The day starts with a parade and ends with spectacular fireworks. The Schomberg Agricultural Fair has been promoting the importance of agriculture in rural life for over 160 years while the Carrot Fest has been deemed the “worlds greatest carrot fest!”.

Participate in ASK Festival King Workshops, Tours & Events. ‘Arts Society King’ (ASK) is an organization fostering inspiration, understanding and appreciation for the arts, heritage and nature in the Township of King. During the monthlong festival held each summer, ASK offers a series of workshops, tours, discussions and other special events.
9. Attend our annual garden tours
From small in-town gems to large private estates. The Nobleton King City Horticultural Society and Schomberg Horticultural Society each conduct a Garden Tour, showcasing the exceptional gardens of King. Local horticulturalists have won the Communities in Bloom competition with Five Blooms Awarded in 2006 and 4 Blooms in 2005.
10. Enjoy many holiday events in December
‘A Main Street Christmas’ and ‘Parade of Lights’. “A Main Street Christmas”, is a much-anticipated event offering a fun-filled, old-fashioned Christmas experience for both children and adults. The ‘Festival of Lights’ is a wonder to see with brightly decorated farm equipment transporting Santa to the festivities.
