Vaughan Film Festival launches new venture – shortCUTS

SHARE

With TIFF in town down south, now’s the perfect time to give a shout out to York Region’s very own film fest – the Vaughan Film Festival – and their upcoming shortCUTS: Cinema Under the Stars.

A new program, shortCUTS will be held over two weekends – the International Blocks 1 and 2 on Sept. 23 & 24 and Best of Docs and Best of Animation on Sept. 30 & Oct. 1 – at Assembly Park, 80 Interchange Way, Vaughan.

Featuring films from around the world, shortCUTS will present eight films each night of the first weekend and 12 on Friday night and 15 on Saturday night the following weekend.

Among the international titles screening we find three Canadian entries – The Bubble, Frimas and Benevolent. Inverno (Timo’s winter) from Italy and Sandstorm from Pakistan are two not to be missed.

The docs feature mostly Canadian works – eight of the dozen showing.

Guests are invited to indulge in a relaxing night under the stars while shopping local goods, enjoying live music, and celebrating international cinema. Seating is General Admission on the lawn. Muskoka chairs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Get extra cozy and grab some yummy treats from the food truck and beer tent too!

Pay What You Can donations will be accepted. Donations will go towards VFF’s educational initiatives and its selected charity, Little Pear Garden. A donation of $10 is suggested.
